The Olympic Torch
The newly designed Olympic torch has just been unveiled and you can watch the BBC report here.
The torch has been designed by East London product design duo Barber-Osgerby.
They've done some beautiful work in the past including these beautiful aluminium tables which are formed from a series of multi tonal pieces.
Hyperkit - Recent Work
Some nice recent work from London based design agency Hyperkit.
An identity for a new Clerkenwell gallery...
An identity for a new Clerkenwell gallery...
and an identity for a barbers...
'Hyperkit looked to deconstruct the traditional barbershop situation and rebuild it for a contemporary audience with all its recognisable parts present.
Initial inspiration for Joe and Co came from looking at how objects are organised within the traditional barbershop, as well as workshops, sheds and garages. This led to us developing a collaged aesthetic when designing the space and the furniture within, combining materials and textures in a very straightforward and functional fashion.
The graphic and geometric nature of the Joe and Co logo and printed material was conceived as a contemporary substitute to the traditional barbershop patterns such as the stripy red and white pole and the black and white checked lino floors.'

Touch (Again)
Another lovely piece of branding from Czech agency Touch. This identity is for a music festival held in Prague.
'The imagery used in the 2010 visual identity is a visual metaphor of the different layers of the festival, which combines classical music, jazz, world music and contemporary experimental performances.'
Touch
Czech design and branding agency Touch created this unusual pack to promote themselves and communicate their passion for branding.
'When creating our own identity, we set out to prove our key message, that every point of communication is a chance to advertise our company. We created a simple brand message and applied it across multiple touchpoints. One of the key elements of the identity was a direct mail in the form of a blood bag, which we personally delivered to creative directors in several ad agencies in Prague.'

The Top 10 Greatest Album Covers
The Metro this morning published a list of the top 10 album covers of all time according to MusicRadar.com. Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon' came in at number one so here in the graphics department we thought we'd show you our favourite covers (as you can see we're not the most decisive of people):
Gooch's choice: Death From Above
Rosie's Choice(s):
Harvey's Choice(s):
Biffy Clyro 'Puzzle'
Justice 'Cross'
Antonio's Choice:
Dan's Choice (that we volunteered for him):
He'd probably say this...
but we reckon it's more likely to be one of these...
